The European opportunity for Divicom/Tandberg is vast and here are some numbers from Cable and Broadcast International edition......

Europe is a prime candidate for new services, such as pay per view, although the fragmented nature of the market may make introduction difficult. The big-bang years for European digital TV will be 1997 and 1998. The increase number of digital households will from only 495,000 at year-end 1996 to 4,488,000 a year later, according to Baskerville Communications Corp.'s report European Digital Television.........................
The report also forecasts 71 million digital households by 2005 (including 22 million dish homes and 49 million cable subscribers)--more than half the total. This extraordinary growth will be achieved as cable operators rapidly convert to digital transmission, fearing a loss of subscribers to dish packages. Cable upgrades should be fairly easy to achieve, as most European networks are modern.
