Yes, there are sometimes legitimate complaints. But one must have a reasonable standard of performance to compare to, and know how chancy the fruits are. Also, someone like Perot professes to know what is wrong, and to be in a position to fix it. Again, I am not saying that one cannot have an opinion, as long as it is informed, but there is something suspicious about the kind of arrogance Perot demonstrated....I have seen, for example, conservatives attack Gingrich for not being more revolutionary when he only held the House with the presence of GOP moderates, and therefore actually did well considering the need to negotiate. On the other hand, I keep hearing the Clinton is a great politician when he was not able to "earn a mandate" in '96 despite a thriving economy, caused the Democrats to lose Congress, got no major legislative initiatives passed, mainly played follow the leader with Republicans (for example, on welfare reform), and spent a great deal of his second term defending himself against scandals of his own making..........
