To all those ONT Raging Bullsh*ters
While I join your outrage at how unfair USA Today's synopsis of on2movies was, I do agree that there is a serious flaw in the system that the USA Today's staff encoutered. When you are running the ON2 platform, and hit the Windowize icon in the upper right hand corner, you will then get a scalable windowed version of the full screen platform. However, the icons in the upper right hand corner disappear, and you can't restore them, even if you attempt to fullscreen the window, nor can you close the ON2 platform window without Ctrl-Atl-Del and End Task that process. It's a pretty annoying oversight by ON2. Maybe for some people hitting Esc or something else, or maybe the close window icon is still there in a windowized version of ON2 client, but I've never seen it, and I've tested this platform already on 2 completely different computer/broadband installations. Everything else mentioned in the USA Today article was unfair, and probably due to their hardware configuration, Browser/Shockwave install, limited Broadband, or Firewall. But the fact that a windowed version of ON2 Client can only be exited by Ending the Task manually, is a tragic flaw that ON2 needs to fix!
I would further recommend that people having trouble using ONT get the 7.03 Shockwave from the Shockwave sight and NOT from ONT itself. I found that ONT's attempt to install Shockwave is often incomplete, and by doing it from the Shockwave sight, you get all the components you need correctly installed. Again, this may not be the case with everyone, but the few frustrated amoung us by ONT's attempt to configure our Browsers, would be well served to try this tip out. |
