Brightpoint and Nokia Sign Agreement to Distribute Multimedia Terminals in the Philippines
INDIANAPOLIS--Brightpoint, Inc.(NASDAQ:CELL) announced today that its subsidiary, Brightpoint Philippines Inc.,has signed an agreement with Nokia (NYSE:NOK - news) to distribute Nokia's digital multimedia terminal, the Nokia Mediamaster, for use in interactive multimedia systems.
The Nokia Mediamaster is a digital receiver decoder (set-top box) that is part of the Digital Satellite System (DSS) which comprises a satellite antenna dish, LNBF, and remote control used to receive nearly all existing digital TV and radio transmissions programs.
The new generation of the Nokia Mediamaster features a pure design which blends perfectly with the home environment. It also comes with a new, easy to use and ergonomic Electronic Program Guide remote control that has on-screen menus to compose and watch selected program categories.
When new functions and services are introduced,the software can be upgraded and downloaded directly into the receiver.
