Savoir Technology Group, Inc. Begins Distribution of SCO UnixWare 7 NonStop Clusters; UnixWare 7 NonStop Clusters Eliminate Planned and Unplanned Downtime
CAMPBELL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 7, 2000--Savoir Technology Group, Inc. (NASDAQ National Market:SVTG), a leading midrange systems distributor in the Americas, today announced that they are now an authorized distributor of UnixWare 7 NonStop Clusters, the SCO flagship clustering software.
Savoir will also launch sale of UnixWare 7 NonStop Clusters for its own line of Savoir SMB Series servers in Spring 2000. Savoir is one of only three distributors currently authorized to supply this clustering software. As an authorized SCO distributor, Savoir will offer its value-added resellers all components of UnixWare 7 NonStop Clusters.
UnixWare 7 NonStop Clusters provides high availability by linking together individual computers, each running its own copy of the operating systems, so that they act as a single system. If one computer or application in the structure goes down, or is taken off-line for routine maintenance, the rest of the cluster takes over and continues to service users. This clustering technology is more robust and has proven more reliable than conventional redundant systems or simple fail-over systems.
"As businesses have come to rely more heavily on their server operations, providing true high availability of mission-critical data has become a key issue for our VAR partners," says Jim Teter, Savoir Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Companies measure down-time in lost revenues. With UnixWare 7 NonStop Clusters, our VARs can offer customers proven, cost-effective ways to continuously stay online and in business."
"Savoir's Value-added Resellers have the technical expertise and the customer base we prefer to launch UnixWare 7 NonStop Clusters into the enterprise market," said Sheila Baker, vice president, U.S. Channel Sales, SCO. "Savoir's enterprise distribution proficiency, and their strong reseller base, combined with the excellent quality of UnixWare 7 NonStop Clusters, offers end-users a dependable, high availability solution."
