this article perpetuates the annoying myth that Europe is "ahead" of the US in wireless services, when in reality they are behind precisely because they mandate that only GSM be used. It is typical of WSJ's shallow reporting and possible anti-Q bias. I read posts much earlier on the "Buy Range" thread that indicated there were many dropped calls, poor voice quality with GSM.
