NYSE says AMD declines comment on stock activity
NEW YORK, March 7 (Reuters) - The New York Stock Exchange said on Tuesday that Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE:AMD - news) declined to issue a public statement explaining whether there were any corporate developments that might explain its unusual stock activity.

Trading volume in AMD's stock on the New York Stock Exchange was 7.2 million in late afternoon, nearly double its average daily volume of 3.7 million. Shares of the company were up 4-3/8 at 51-7/8.

``The company stated that its policy is not to comment on unusual market activity or rumors,' a statement from the New York Stock Exchange said.

Officials from Advanced Micro Devices were not immediately available to comment.
