I'm getting a little tired of the "doubleclick" industry. Not because of the ads, but because of issues like slowness of their systems and data collection.

It seems that the errors I get in retrieving a web page are usually caused by the ads that have to be pulled from a remote ad server. Should I ever have a web page with advertising, the ad will have to local to my machine or be a consistent size so that my pages always draw, even if their is a problem with the ad server.

But that doesn't bother my nearly as bad as data collection. The marketing industry is creaming over data collection. "Now we can target market to people who are currently looking for our products". If I am looking for a new car, the last thing I want is 100 phone calls from all of the local car dealerships. Or how about the phone call...

"Sir, I would like to congratulate you on the birth of your second son. We know that this doesn't leave you with the time to monitor all of the things that can save you money. So, in order to help we searched our records and they show that your car is 3.4 years old with 52000 miles on it. Our records show that your lease only allows 12,000 miles per year, which puts you 11,200 miles over your lease mileage. Should you continue your current driving habits you will be over 13176 miles over you lease limit. Have you considered leasing a new car concurrently with your current car in order to reduce the fees that you would have to pay on the first lease..."

I really don't want a tele-marketer to know all of that. No thank you, yet that info could be easily pulled from the toys you buy, the leasing company and any service station that changes your oil.
