Can any engineers expand on the utility of net meeting 2 and the DLGC product portfolio?
PARSIPPANY, NJ -- April 28, 1997 -- Dialogic Corporation (NASDAQ-DLGC), the world's leading manufacturer of high-performance, standards-based computer telephony (CT) components, today announced that its open Internet telephony platforms will support recently-announced Microsoft NetMeeting 2.0. The support ensures that NetMeeting will enjoy broad interoperability with industry-standard gateways based on the popular Dialogic platforms.
NetMeeting is a complete Internet conferencing solution that provides Internet users with a real-time, multipoint communication and collaboration client. The first product to combine standards support for both T.120 and H.323 in a widely available client, NetMeeting also adds support for Windows NT, providing organizations with a software-based solution for real-time conferencing on their platform of choice. "Microsoft is pleased that Dialogic is supporting NetMeeting with its standards-based Internet telephony platforms," said John Ludwig, vice president, Internet client and collaboration division, Microsoft. "Broad support for Internet telephony standards will ensure customers the transparent interoperability they expect when they pick up a phone. With this announcement, Dialogic is helping to accelerate the growth of the IP telephony market."
Pioneering IP telephony platforms
Long a proponent of industry standards in computer telephony, Dialogic has pioneered the enabling platforms for Internet Protocol (IP) telephony. Dialogic was the first platform vendor to announce support for H.323 and for the standard voice coder for IP telephony, G.723.1. The company offers developers who are creating IP telephony solutions three open, flexible platforms to meet their individual needs:
GateNetT is the world's first platform for IP telephony, suited for small office and branch office locations. It is based on the widely-used Dialogic D/21HT and D/41E-SCT products. The AntaresT open digital signal processor (DSP) platform - used with the Dialogic SpancardT family of line interfaces - provides a rapid deployment platform for rapid deployment of telco and large-enterprise solutions. The DM3 Mediastream Architecture family of product provides a new level of scalability and flexibility to IP telephony.
Working toward IP telephony standards
Both Dialogic Corporation and Microsoft are founding members of the group that is establishing standards for Internet telephony products, the Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Activity Group of the International Multimedia Teleconferencing Consortium (IMTC). This group of more than 40 leading computer and telephony companies is working toward open standards and universal interoperablity for Internet telephony products. VoIP is defining technical guidelines for two-party, real-time voice communications over IP networks, including provisions for compatibility with traditional telephone service networks via telephony/IP gateways. |
