Real mystery. This move does not have the marks of a typically Canadian exchange P&D, which would have had the "messengers" out in force on the BB's for weeks ahead of the move. No news to be found on Carlson, either. Mid to late January we learned that 1) Q1 (through 11/99) top line was up 100%--but bottom line was loss again as usual and 2) applying for "listing" on US:NASD:OTC:BB (no big deal). But, then, this IS an I'net e-tailer, and it IS a well-run company (my family and I have ordered from them with satisfaction on numerous occasions). I doubt that the CDN requires its listees to release news of events potentially material to the company in a timely fashion, so I'm convinced that there is "news" out there about which we know nothing yet. I'd guess that they were going after a listing on the TSE. Another possibility, that they were about to release outstanding sales totals for the most recent quarter (including the Christmas season) make sense except for the fact that such earnings (through 02/00) aren't expected for another month at least. Only remaining thing that makes any sense at all is a take-over bid of VFCO.U by someone else. We'll find out soon enough I imagine.
