Jim, it's just another manifestation of the manias rising 'bezzle' co-efficient. i'm getting more and more p*ssed off at the SEC that seems to allow that this nonsense is going on as long as the perpetrators are big-pocketed WS firms, while clamping down on the little guys. Levitt should take the plunge and do something besides muttering words of warning now and then. i thought the SEC is here to protect investors...makes you wonder how far the corruption already goes. as someone else has pointed out, a former SEC employee has landed a nice cushy job at the Motley Fool...that about says it all i suppose.
