3/07/00 - Hong Kong - Securities Trading With CASH Online 03/06/00
HONG KONG, CHINA, 2000 MAR 6 (Newsbytes) -- By Eldon Fung, IT Daily. Online securities trading firm CASH on-line has launched a Windows 2000-based securities trading platform through iGame. The company also claims to be spending over$170 million (Hong Kong currency) on investment, advertising, and promotion.
"We will spend $70 million on the capital investment plus another $100 million on advertising and promotion this year," said Ken Khoo, managing director of CASH Group and CEO of CASH online.
iGame is a simulation Internet securities trading game that allows users to familiarize themselves with the In-Trade Internet Trading Securities system.
Using Microsoft's Windows 2000 as the platform for iGame, and ultimately the In-Trade system, is evidence of the joint venture of Microsoft Hong Kong, PSINet Hong Kong, and Compaq Computer.
"There are about 10 percent - roughly 6,000 to 7,000 - of our existing clients using our on-line trading service. The transaction turnover was also in proportion," said Avy Chan, team head of SmartTrade.
In addition, CASH hopes that within the next four years 40 percent of its trade will be done through the Internet.
The company claims that their system can withstand 1 million hits every 10 minutes (1,666 hits per second).
