Bob, just got back from Fla. on Friday. Looks like things are percolating.
Job well done. Wash. (Dow Jones)--Saflink Corp. (ESAF, news, msgs) received a U.S. patent for a fingerprint controlled set-top box, which allows secure electronic commerce transactions through television set-top boxes.
In a press release Tuesday, Saflink said the invention is a continuation of its patented ergonomic fingerprint reader apparatus, which manages set-top box service level settings and user preferences.
Saflink said these products permit set-top manufacturers and service providers to allow an individual user to customize his or her viewing experience.
Saflink said with the touch of a finger on a TV remote or on the set-top box itself, service level settings can be automatically adjusted to each user's volume, contrast, and other viewing preferences, including customized menus, email, and parental controls.
The company said financial transactions can also be more conveniently and securely conducted for home banking, movie purchases, on-line trading, and other e-commerce transactions that are presently protected by passwords.
Saflink also has received U.S. patents on its uneven surface image transfer apparatus and its ergonomic fingerprint reader apparatus.
Saflink's shares were recently trading at 8 1/8, up 2 11/16, or 49.4%, on Nasdaq SmallCap volume of 3.9 million shares. Average daily volume is 323,373 shares.
Saflink provides multi-biometric software to verify individual identity, to protect business and personal information, and to replace passwords and PINs in order to safeguard and simplify access to electronic systems and enable new online services for customers.
