Faulty Command Disrupts Mexican Satellite Service (Space News, 03-13-00) Thnaks to Phillips telecon. Jeff Vayda The SatMex 5 communications satellite was out of service for 84 minutes March 3 after a computer on the ground sent the geostationary spacecraft an errant command. Controllers were preparing the Hughes Space & Communications Co.-built model HS 601HP spacecraft for the upcoming solar eclipse period when the satellite shut down in response to the faulty command. The satellite is again operating normally. (Not available on the web)
