One more time; does OmniTracs use, or plan to use, the G* system?

[EDIT: Prior, cross posts, contradict my understanding. Read those posts, and let's investigate further]

In a word--No. (Or, at least not in its present configuration.)

Logically: Omnitracs can use geo sats. Geo sats are cheaper than Leo. G* can, if they can fill their spectrum, earn much more from other customers than Omnitracs should be willing to pay. OTOH, I would expect that it has been looked at, and as a last resort (eg., to stave off liquidation?) Omnitracs might be portable to G* if the need arises. But, imho, if we see Omnitracs being touted for G*, then that is not necessarily a good sign for G*

A possibility, which I cannot opine on, is combining an Omnitracs product with G*, giving the trucker voice capability to add to the Omnitracs SMS capability. The product could be offered to allow calling from the truck to anywhere, or allowing the trucker only to call the dispatch office, or only allow the trucker to receive calls. I think that would be cool, and would have a market.

Best,
John
