Interesting comment (my opinions as well!) concerning this first of many government contracts looming on the horizon. I'm tellin ya.. 'traditional' CRM is entering main street from a G&K perspective and yet enjoying the tornado like affects of the emergence of CRM into the e-commerce arena. i.e. The best of both worlds.

It is great news. For two reasons:
First, this is SEBL's first big step into the public sector here in the US. Think of the fact that they will be able to use this deal and the relationship with AMS (which will broaden quickly to other integrators operating in the govt space) as a basis to expand into other US Federal govt agencies. Think of IRS, Health and Human Svcs, Social Security, Agriculture, Commerce, Energy, the SEC, etc. Not to mention the Legislative and Executive branches themselves, both of which could use some help in dealing effectively with their "customers"! And think about 50 state governments that will want to move into a modern CRM environment as they see the Federal govt doing it.
Second, think about the fact that the US will be playing the role of groundbreaking vertical market leader in the global governmental space, and will bring along other "participants" in this space to SEBL. By other "participants", I'm referring to the governments of the major countries of Europe, Latin America, and sooner or later Asia.
I suspect that right now, other US govt agencies, some leading edge state agencies, plus some other country governments are mulling over this announcement, and are reaching for the phone to call their local SEBL rep for a meeting....
For these reasons, I submit that this announcement is on par with the IBM deal and similar recent developments as a major step forward (and I mean major as in one of the biggest events in SEBL's history) for this company. IMHO" |
