BGR, RE:conspiracy theories. You don't suppose we have suggested to the Japanese that the costs of defending the region are getting onerous and we would like some help. During WWII the Japanese committed horrific atrocities against the Chinese ( read the Rape of Nanking) . The Chinese have shown remarkable restraint or perhaps the military might of the US has prevented the Chinese from extracting some compensation for the Japanese crimes against the people of China.
