Company Press Release
Netro Corp. Ships Broadband Wireless Access System for U.S. LMDS License Holders
Netro's 28 GHz AirStar System Addresses the U.S. Market and Extends Product Solution to Address Four of the Most Commonly Licensed Broadband Wireless Access Frequency Bands Worldwide
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 8, 2000-- Netro Corp. (Nasdaq:NTRO - news), a market leader in broadband wireless access systems, today announced it has shipped an initial system for customer trials of its AirStar product supporting the 28 GHz LMDS band in the United States.

The shipment was made following extensive testing and qualification of the system in Netro's customer advocacy laboratory. In the United States, the FCC has allocated 28 GHz spectrum, sometimes referred to as LMDS, for point-to-multipoint, broadband wireless access services.

The FCC 28 GHz AirStar system expands Netro's product portfolio to cover four of the most commonly licensed bands in the broadband wireless market worldwide.

``Developing an LMDS solution is an important milestone for Netro. The 28 GHz AirStar system is based on our field-proven TDMA/Packet-based platform,' said Gideon Ben-Efraim, president and chief executive officer of Netro. ``This new system will further our goal of becoming the U.S. market leader.'

Netro is a leading provider of intelligent broadband wireless access solutions for Internet and telecom service providers worldwide. Netro's broadband wireless access system, AirStar, derives its price performance benefit from its proprietary packet-based technology that maximizes spectrum usage through dynamic bandwidth allocation.

AirStar is one of the first commercially available broadband wireless access systems, carrying IP and voice traffic using a point-to-multipoint architecture.
