OT:: BigAL wants a rate hike on (invisible) inflation fears. Then again, maybe inflation is lurking:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Clinton and the Democratic faithful rallied for a $1 increase in the minimum hourly wage on Wednesday and blasted Republican attempts to tie it to a tax cut.

``It is time to stop nickel-and-diming the American working people out of the money that they need and deserve!' Clinton said in an appearance on the White House South Lawn.

Clinton and his Democrats want to raise the $5.15 minimum wage by $1 over two years to bring the wage to $6.15 an hour.

Gee Bill, can you assure me of 9% annual wage improvement for the next two years, too? Don't get me wrong, I think minwage is low, but making up for it so quickly is not such a good idea. Hey, on the bright side, maybe this will ease the unemployment problem. ;-)
