John, just to amplify my prior response, the roles of the various myelin antigens and their variable epitopes, remain to be clarified. It is interesting that in the vaccination experiment cited by Tom, the recurrent attacks after vaccination were found related to autoantibodies to BMP epitopes which were different than the BMP epitopes initially seen at the time of vaccination. So, these were new autoantibodies to BMP associated with a new attack! The autoimmune responses in MS are multiple and complex, and the mode of their incitement a mystery. And oral tolerance in this case would be a challenge. I do believe that the RA approach may be more promising. I gather that the AIMM staff is more optimistic on this trial after my phone conversation with a staff scientist today. Like you, I believe that AIMM stock is speculative, but merits a shot.
