Seems Real world marks would prove INTC wrong in that statement about AMD's processor. AMD 1Ghz is faster than Piii 800 here anandtech.com It's no surprise that the three fastest CPUs in this test are the 900, 950 and 1000MHz Athlons. The 18% increase in clock speed over the 850 at 1GHz results in a performance gain of about 6% which is being limited by the 1/3 speed L2 cache of the Athlon. The same is true for the 900 and 950MHz parts, we are beginning to see the limitations of the K75 core, Thunderbird where are you?coming soon And here as 800Mhz Piii is in 7th place with a BX MB no doubt. anandtech.com Faster than 800Mhz here as Piii in 6th place. anandtech.com wow you got one with RDRAM "For the first time in the entire comparison the 1GHz Athlon falls behind the two RDRAM equipped test beds, this is the perfect illustration of what RDRAM's incredible bandwidth can do when coupled with the full speed L2 cache of the Pentium III.
