Dan - What we are seeing here is the end of the cycle for SDRAM - with highly optimized and tuned configurations - outperforming RDRAM - new, early designs which are in debug mode, not optimization. That will continue for a while - my guess is at least 12 to 18 months, maybe longer. RDRAM will eventually mature, and the systems which use it will at some point be the high performance architecture of choice - unless someone comes up with a different way to solve the problem... in the mean time I won't be first on my block to pay 4 times as much for memory which is slower in most applications.
