I believe that on a Form 144, you have 90 days to sell the stock. These were filed in February - which means they would have to sell by sometime in May (I can't confirm if they've sold yet). So you could read this as a bullish or bearish sign. Could be that the insiders have been in the doldrums for so long, they finally can buy that house they've been looking at.

Neither bearish nor bullish....insider selling and its implications to a stock has been overdone in my opinion. Last fall C. Barrett was selling Intel while it was in the 70's...why did he not wait until it hit the 100's...because he wanted the $ then for whatever reason.

If you read thestreet's article, at least two of the sellers had not sold since 1997. Now think about it your stock has been in the sewer for two years, and if you sold before the latter half of 1999, you would get next to nada....squat. Now its worth $40 or 50, there's that house you've wanted (like you said) or that corporate jet or whatever....are you going to sell so you can get one or the other or both....I would. Are you going to worry what the shareholders think...only for a moment and then you remember all the hours you've put in in the last 2 years.

Think of it logically.....most insiders sell usually because they want the $ and not because they expect their company to go into the toilet. Besides, what do you think they know that we don't know? We know Willamette is a legimate threat to the stability of AMD.....I suppose Intel could come up with something else and make the threat even more intense. Nonetheless this does not change the fact that a threat is a threat no matter how intense it is and we have been warned with plenty of time to watch as events unfold. In other words no one will wake one morning to find out and be shocked by the fact that Willamette can run at 1.7 G.

Bottomline, I don't think insider selling is the AMD shareholders' big problem. That does not change the fact that the competion between AMD and Intel is a dangerous one and needs to be watched carefully.
