A bold, soul stirring move by House Republicans to fire up the troops for the coming campaign [sarcasm].

WASHINGTON -- House Republicans in April plan to unveil legislation that would gradually increase annual contribution limits to individual retirement accounts by $3,000, another element in their strategy of obtaining tax cuts in small, politically popular steps.

People whose income exceeds certain levels can't make tax-deductible IRA contributions. GOP lawmakers haven't decided if they will propose raising the income limits. Nor have they decided how quickly to phase in the $3,000 increase, though it is likely to be done gradually over several years.

What a dud Hastert is. Good move to tell us about this a month before proposing it. Need to get ready for the battle of the century over this one.
