This is at least plausible, but why conservatives should have any interest in promoting such a scenario remains a mystery. Kristol and his fellow McCain partisan David Brooks now justify their support for McCain on grounds that he's the candidate of "creative destruction." The destruction apparently comes first, while the creation will be filled in later.
