AXCESS Announces Comprehensive Asset Management Solution for the Corporate Network and Internet Easy Add-on Application Improves Utilization of Assets, People and Inventory DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 8, 2000-- AXCESS Inc. (Nasdaq:AXSI - news) announced today its new ActiveTag(TM) Asset Management system.
Based on its patented automatic identification and digital video technologies, the system is designed to be a low cost, ubiquitous add-on to the corporate network (LAN/WAN, or Internet). It provides a multiple application platform for improving the utilization of assets enterprise-wide. Asset solutions include: physical asset protection, personnel and vehicle access control, personnel time and attendance, life safety and inventory as well as production tracking.
The ActiveTag(TM) system leverages the corporate LAN to provide enterprise-wide, real-time visibility of critical resources to the desktop. Utilizing hands-free, wireless RFID tag technology, the system is based on a flexible ``control point' architecture, which allows the user to activate and identify tags at precise ``zone' locations on the perimeter and throughout the facility. Long range, wireless readers blanket the facility and read the tag signals to locate or control an asset or person within a designated zone. The system also dynamically monitors movement between zones. Where desired, digital video can be integrated on the network to automatically record a video snapshot of a tag read for verification purposes.
``As a simple network add-on, this system provides immediate benefits such as a reduction in laptop theft. Its multi-use nature and hands-free design provides great utility by allowing new applications to be added as desired. By using the network, asset management is a desktop application; automatic and straightforward from within a facility or from around the world. This fits nicely into our 'e-supervision' Internet strategy,' commented Allan Griebenow, president and ceo of AXCESS Inc.
The ActiveTag system is also easy to integrate into existing burglar and surveillance systems. The comprehensive solution includes: perimeter detection and alarm, real-time location detection, easy authorized movement of assets, and the ability to link assets to personnel. The system will be launched at next week's ISC (International Security Conference) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The company will be exhibiting (booth No. 669) and demonstrating this new product at the Las Vegas Convention Center, March 14th through 16th.
In addition to this new offering, AXCESS' Prism Video product line includes network-based digital video cameras, transmission devices, and digital video recorders typically used in CCTV security and transportation applications.
