Janice since SJ was in good physical shape maybe she thought she could just plain outdistance him. OR maybe she just never dreamed that he would chase her on foot and thought that putting some distance between herself and the killer would be enough to end the conflict.

Another possiblity is that she did have target location in mind and was running toward where ever that was.
