Gary,
???? Are you suggesting that my spin and Microsoft's product announcements are similar? If I recall my
comments back then were something along the lines that I believed that Microsoft hadn't given up on this
space and that they would bring an improved product to market. That's not spin - that's an educated opinion on
what I believed would happen. It would appear that I'm once again correct. Now, there's a leak about an
upcoming announcement from Microsoft - is it spin? Is it vaporware? Do you really believe that? I don't
because I am living in this world and Microsoft has never launched vaporware. Yes W2K was very late but a
scaled down CE is trivial in comparison to W2K. Do you know what W2K had in it? Do you know the
challenges that MSFT had? if not you have no right to speak to it. Don't get me wrong - I'm not defending Mr.
Softy but I am realistic.

Ok let us talk about W2K.

Any person with a right mind won't touch that shit for couple of years if he/she wants to have a stable environment.
Do you know that monster has added nearly 27M LOCs on top of buggy NT4.0's 13M LOCs? Do you know how may hidden bugs are there despite what ever testing method they employed? Do you know there is a fundamental design flaw in that system?
Just because adding features deos n't mean you get a reliable product.
Have you ever coded more than 1000 lines of code?
Do you know what is meant by MTTF, MTBF, or software reliablity? Have you ever tested any software system that has thousands of if not millions of lines of code?
I hope you understand what I mean? Been there, done that,
and written about it.

But that let us not distract from the main point: use PR spins to promote vapourware when competitors cannot answer due to quiet period.

You promise something and don't deliver even after couple of mishaps is called Vaporware. And MSFT is good at that.
Is W2K not a good example?

-Nat
