Here's my latest theory../guess.../prayer for KTCC
Here it is: HP bought Verifon, HP is a big customer of KTCC, and
KTCC is in a deal with Verifone to put those card scanners on
keyboards..., big breath..., KTCC has been manufacturng/selling
MSFT's 'natural keyboard'..., that, plus the close physical proximity
of MSFT and KTCC and it's a fair guess that they have a good
working relationship.
MSFT bought WebTV and has publicly stated that it intends to
make a big push with it next holiday season.
Now I was dissapointed to find that WebTV's are selling with a cordless keyboard option that is a magnavox keyboard..., not made
by KTCC, I believe. But it's really a crappy little keyboard -- no
mouse, no numeric keyboard and NO CARD SCANNER!!
With all the talk about internet commerce plus the above, I don't see
it as that much of a jump to expect an announcement that WebTV
will sell with an optional KTCC keyboard, w/scanner.
Though I see this is the last hope for any near-term 'explosion' in
earnings, I welcome cases against.
