I've gone through almost exactly the same thing. I really wanted to keep using Netscape but the crashes got to be too much. IE5 has turned out to be much more stable, although not perfect. I still use Netscape Messenger for email because I don't want to deal with the hazards of Javascript/Active-X viruses in Outlook.
