Re: Alternatives?

Instead of complaining about Waterhouse, how about relaying some information on better, more responsive discount brokers.

Fidelity Brokerage has worked mighty well for me. Fido's web-based trading has been flawless (your mileage may vary). One can get up to ten RT quotes per request (unlike Waterhouse, Fido's option quotes are real time). Some have complained about Fido's margin rules. Our accounts are IRAs, so I can't address margin issues.

I'm aware of three Fido interfaces: Powerstreet (general web interface, which I have used without complaint for many months), Powerstreet Pro (I think I have the name right: it's the frequent flier version, with Nasdaq L2 and all the momo trader gewgaws), and FOX (their free-standing internet access software... I don't know if Fidelity is letting new customers use this).

I just went over to an old Ameritrade account for a couple of trades. It worked great! Orders confirmed quickly. Had to call a rep with a question about partial fills: wait was 10 minutes and rep did her job skillfully.
