I really don't think they'd have lynched him. He didn't have to yell "Bigots", just make a few intelligent points in a civilized manner (yes, I know that is most out of form in a Presidential campaign, but I can dream...).

Just because Bush was after votes, which all of the politicians are, doesn't mean he agrees with the tenets of the group he is speaking to.

I didn't say he was "wrong", I said he was "dumb". He could have pulled a lot more votes - and kept a contentious issue off his back - by drawing a clear line between himself and some of the more ridiculous BJU policies and ideas.

Do we really need a dumb President? No, but we're going to get one, either way.
