TeraBeam Networks Names Ex AT&T President, Dan Hesse, as CEO
Seattle-based company announces breakthrough IP broadband service eliminating last-mile bottleneck

SEATTLE, March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- TeraBeam Networks, a new capacity IP service provider, has named Dan Hesse, former president and CEO of AT&T Wireless Services and creator of the highly successful Digital One Rate plan, as president and CEO of TeraBeam Networks.

Operating in a stealth mode in Seattle for the past 30 months, privately- owned TeraBeam Networks is officially debuting at PC Forum on Monday, March 13th. The company has developed a Fiberless Optics(TM) network with imminent potential to eliminate the last-mile bottleneck of today's bandwidth-intensive networks.

Respected industry expert George Gilder describes the company's technology as, ``Truly revolutionary, shatters the last-mile bottleneck into shards of light.'

As CEO, Hesse's goal is to grow this first-of-its-kind fiberless optics company into the industry leading broadband IP service provider. As part of its debut, TeraBeam will unveil its breakthrough services next week at PC Forum in Scottsdale, Ariz., providing connectivity for the conference with its fiberless optical IP network at gigabits per second speeds.

``I am joining TeraBeam team in taking the future of network communications to the next level,' Hesse said. ``What TeraBeam has done to break the last- mile bottleneck is an amazing feat of ingenuity. By eliminating the need for fiber, the company is rewriting the laws of broadband connectivity.'

Hesse joined AT&T in 1991 and was appointed as president and CEO of the wireless division in 1997. Throughout his tenure, he held a variety of high- level positions, including vice president and general manager of business development; vice president and general manager of the Internet services group; and president and CEO of AT&T Network Systems International.

``Hesse brings us unrivaled market savvy and global service experience- perfect matches for the revolutionary services we will be introducing later this year,' said Greg Amadon, founder and chairman of TeraBeam Networks.
