Paul this is a second time you are suggesting that Coppermine 1GHz has passive cooling (no fan).

Now I understand that you are completely clueless about thermal management requirement for a chip dissipating +30 Watts. I understand that you know nothing about fluid dynamics to realize that the heat sink you saw on the picture is designed for a high velocity flow. I realize that you know nothing about thermodynamic and heat transfer to do a simple energy balance equation and realize that with the geometry of that sink, or anywhere close to that geometry, there is no way to do passive cooling and have less that 100 degree of temperature rise from the ambient to the die.

Lets just use a elementary school level logic. Intel has used fans with their CPU for a long time, but all the sudden they stopped with the 1 GHz part! That's right, Intel has been hiding and saving this new revolutionary cooling technology just for the 1 GHz part. Perhaps they came up with a break through discovery to violate the first law of thermodynamic. Does the law of physics seize to exist on the Intel CPU?

If you honestly believe this, you are a gargantuan moron! There is no other way of putting it.

Tell you what, I am willing to make a wager on this. I will give you $100,000 if you are right! If I am right then you give me $1! Is that fair?

I think I should print your post and show it to my coworker for a good laugh. That's right everyone, this dude, A Ph.D. Engineer who had worked many years at Intel, is saying that their 1 GHz part has passing cooling because he saw a picture of it without a fan on the Internet.
