Iris,
On IFCI, I still prefer MTZ. In this sector, management is very critical. I don't know the management of IFCI. Price/Sales IFCI 5.01 DY 3.06 MTZ 1.79
WIND look like it is having some execution problems. It has 75 percent of the networking operating system business. The addition of the networking/IP stack features to its operating system through the acquisition early last year should broaden it design wins. On the negative side, they only have 5 percent of the real time operating system market. Most people still write their own. The royalty cost of WIND's product is quite expensive. For low cost appliances like consumer products which they are hoping to stake their future on I am not sure it is viable without a change in the margin structure. Unlike the printer business, the manufacturer will not be able to subsidize the cost of the printer with high ink cartridge costs.

On QCOM, I expect they will not get their next big move till later this year or early in 2001. 3G will not really take off till 2003, despite the publicized deployment of 3G in Japan in 2001. It will be a stripped down version.

I only vaguely know KOPN and PHTN. They have good momentum. |
