Jay, Congratulations on your Epson purchase.

I had a few pointers for you.

First, once you set the user controls I believe they remain until either you change them voluntarily or until you change batteries as Rocky stated. I like to use manual settings myself, although the same degree of flexibility one enjoys with an SLR is not possible at this time.

Second, I have posted here before that it would be nice to have a small plastic carrying case for CF to avoid detritus from plugging the pin connectors. Casio and Nikon ship a very nice clear plastic CF holder with their cameras. It would be very nice to have a single CF card holder in black plastic that could be attached to the camera's neck strap for storage of extra CF cards. Emblazon a SanDisk logo on it and you have the cheapest advertising campaign I can think of!

Third, use the lens extension tool that came with the Epson and buy a 49 mm polarized lens cover to seal the zoom mechanism. That way you don't have to worry about scratching the glass cover of the lens and can replace the skylight filter if it gets damaged.

Fourth, use the on-screen buttons to review as Rocky said. The green triangle is the review button which is nice because you don't need to powerdown to review.

Lastly, let me know if you figure out how the ambient backlighting feature for the LCD can be used.
