Well, one idea--though it's way too late now--would have been to check all her email messages going back as long as she kept them. If she turned on the computer in the hope of finding an email from someone in particular, then he must have sent other communications earlier. He could also have been in her email address book.

I wonder whether the cops thought of doing this.
