siliconindia News Bureau

Thursday, March 09, 2000

NEW YORK -- AT&T today announced that Mohan Gyani will succeed Daniel R. Hesse as president and chief executive officer of its Wireless Services unit. Gyani, a telecom and wireless industry veteran and former CFO of AirTouch Communications, joined AT&T recently as chief financial officer of its newly formed Wireless Services Group. Hesse has decided to leave AT&T to become CEO of TeraBeam Networks, a Seattle-based privately held network company that delivers last-mile, high-speed broadband connectivity to businesses.

In his new role, Gyani, 48, will lead the company's domestic voice and data mobility businesses, focusing on completing the expansion of AT&T's footprint across the U.S. and accelerating growth, particularly in the wireless data business.
