You talk about "laws" and "courts" yet these require a complicated bureaucracy to create and enforce. Officers for their enforcement are required, prisons are required. You talk about people begging for alms, I've seen it in my travels, it is ugly and unpleasant and I think a majority of U.S. citizens, even those who are not ignorant, would not wish to see rampant begging here. There is a quality of life problem with what you suggest Terrence. It sounds O.K. to you but if you could put a human face on it would you still accept it as reasonable? Of course if you could put a human face on things you wouldn't believe the way you do, so no sense arguing about it I suppose. I think, after reading ALL your posts here, that you are not capable of comprehending the pain your master plan would inflict on people. Not all people, but a lot of people and people who were not necessarily at "fault," that is to say people who did not bring disaster upon themselves but rather had it thrust upon them.
Like most philosophical positions yours has some merit, but like all philosophical positions if followed absolutely and carried to the extreme yours will lead to the misery that all zealotry begets. No position is unassailable Terrence, all philosophies and forms of government have flaws. We need to be flexible, reasonable, and kind as well as rational. You think only rationality is valuable. |
