Finally, the Maven released the hidden name of his ARTT destroying company--TeraBeam. Sounds like an interesting company, a COMPLEMENTING technology to BBFW. I'd probably invest in the company should it go public, but it has absolutely no effect on my confidence with ARTT.

Want to know why? Go to Slide #98 at: qwest.com

Oops. Qwest has Free Space Optical already on their hit list as a COMPLEMENTARY service to connect to the customer. I wouldn't even be surprised if Qwest invests in TeraBeam like they did with ARTT, Covad, Jato, & Rythms.

Let's review methods of high speed access to a business:

Direct Fiber Connection to Backbone (CyberCenter)
Direct Fiber Connection to RBOC or CLEC (BellSouth & USW)
DSL Connection (Covad, Rythms, Jato)
Wirlesss (ART)
Cable (AT&T, Comcast, or MediaOne)
Free Space Optical (???)

Then go to Slide #99 and observe the targeted marketplace for Fixed Wireless. It is primarily the medium business and small business space. These businesses are not going to require 10 Gbps access that TeraBeam is going to provide. TeraBeam is a "Large Business Customer" solution as an alternative to direct fiber.

The "Last-Mile" is going to require a number of different solutions all highlighted above, each owning a segment of the marketplace.

The question of whether TeraBeam is DISRUPTIVE or COMPLEMENTARY is simple to answer now.
