I wasted 10% of my AMD profits doing this when it was 80. But with a 5:1 split coming, there's a strategy that might be OK: buy hundreds of puts at 1/8 or 3/16. When it splits, you might still get 1/8 for them with only a minor drop in the stock, thus tripling your investment.
