TCI plans to spend $1.7 billion to $2.5 billion over the next 30 to 35 months upgrading channel capacity for two-way high-speed residential Internet access. They are "recommitted to upgrading all their system with fiber optic cable".

It's about time.

This is extremely significant. It was TCI's previous lack of committment to upgrading with fiber optic that caused so much uncertainty over the prospects for HLIT. Now that TCI has put $2 billion on the line, people are taking notice.

Lets hope that HLIT takes a big chunk of this business, and that other cable companies follow TCI's lead.

I've copied this from another thread and wondered why there's no notice of these announcements here. TCI's slow down killed Antec and this announcement should be very good for them. Let's hope so.
