Carl, Thanks for your post. You pointed out clearly the advantages of INTC, the mangement, organization and the vison. I agree it is different than MSFT,(I myself worry often what if BG dies!!)
For being 10% of my stock portfoglio, INTC has been reponsible for over 18% of my total return. So far so good. My concerns is the future. As a business man, and investor, I can't content myself with past perfrmance, we all need vision.
In the last two months while the INTC was under 130 I saw the fear on INTC thread! To me it was a antipasto of what will happen in the bear market. Individual investors and money mangers will sell short, to avert further loss, there are no brand loyalties! In January we saw the fund mangers and investors commenting about the market leaders for 1997, and were to put he money for a perfromance and security, in case of the slow down.(KO, G, or Dis!) The situation still has not changed since Feb. This week have a few good reports out and DJIA back to 7000. This should not be the cause to stay off gaurd. Dow at 8000 or more by the end of the year, maybe, maybe not. Feds. still could go ahead with increasing the rates! In that case would we still see INTC at 200 bt the end of 1997?
Has something changed in the fundematals of the stock market? I have the tenedency to believe that in 1990's the old ballance may have changed. We used to have Grouth (KO), Vlaue(IBM) and cyclicals(GM), an stool that stood on three legs. Now it seems that the stool has four leggs, the Hi Tech(INTC)
Kind regards,
Yaacov
