Do you have a problem with someone consulting an ethics advisor? I certainly do. Ethics in a mature man or woman should be ingrained, instinctual, autonomous. To modify or adjust one's ethics to a particular situation on the advice of a hired gun is the lowest form of moral dependency. I always liked Davy Crockett's (that Alamo hero) "Decide what's right and go ahead." I don't see any consultation in Patrick Henry's speech: "I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!" At his age, GWB should not need ethical advice, but after all his serious moral lapses he obviously feels he does. We know Clinton is under the moral care of a bunch of preachers, and apparently Bush has the same need. I would prefer a president who knows what's right and goes ahead.
