You are wrong about tape.
Tape is the cheapest and most reliable archival medium.
It is growing exponentially in the Enterprise market and
now in low end PC and so on. Ask Dataquest or any such firm.
It is very high end and only now comming into the
high volumes in the PC market with Travan (the QIC sucessor).
The fact that Exebyte, a high end house is entering this market
speaks to my point.
Tape is not as ubiquitous to low end PC users as compared to
real companies with real networks and so on.
All mainframes and mini's will always be hevaily dependent on tape,
how else would you store Terabytes per day.
