True, a silent computer is a desirable trait. I was aware of Jobs mandate. One reason I've bought IBM drives is that they run cool and quiet. However given the choice between a faster computer that's a little noisy and a slower computer that's quieter I think most professionals would go for the faster computer. Perhaps invest in quieter fans, or better case insulation. I don't think it's a big deal for most people.
