Before McData can go public they are going to need a much more robust product line. While it's true they captured market share with their director product last year, they had virtually no competition in that space because almost no one was ready for a director level product. Ancor and Inrange have since announced 64/128 port director level products that support switched fabric. It is my understanding that McData's product does not support switched fabric. In fact, my understanding is that McData's product is nothing but a hybrid consisting of two Brocade 32 port fibre channel loop switches. In addition, it's been said that McData does not have a lower level 8 or 16 port fibre channel switch. It is no secret that EMC is shopping for a new OEM partner in this space.
