"Another Day in LA"
I am setting here in my Penthouse, drinking my first cup of coffee, and writing this while I look out over my deck and watch the sunrise reflect off the cluster of Skyscrapers in downtown LA.
This is the best time of year here. cool nites, and a daytime high of about 65. I will spend the day contracting for the dance floor I am putting in on the deck. After checking out the readymades, I discovered that doing it myself was about the same price for a much better floor. So I will use 1/4 Teak over 3/4 marine plywood, and build about a 400 square foot floor.
The Jacuzzi install is giving me problems. The only place I can site a crane to lift it up to my roof is in a Bus Stop, and the City is not too cool about issuing a permit for that. I will go with a smaller Jacuzzi, I think, and get some moving guys to muscle it up my stairwell.
(I know, I know, Tekboy. Tekgirl is saving the Rain Forest and feeding the Homeless, and here I am worrying about my personal comfort!) :0)
I am going for a 1940's Nightclub "Jungle" look on the deck, with Bamboo, etc, down both sides. I just bought the sound system, and am setting it up with 4 speakers in a "surround" to give the best sound at the lowest volume, to keep the neighbors happy. Damn it, they better not complain about me playing Frank all the time!
I had a small run-in with one snotty neighbor who was unhappy with me getting a better parking setup than her.
I told her, "Look, if you call the Management company, they will deny this, because I told them to, but I am buying this building. Now, if you want to complain, keep that in mind."
Haven't heard a word since. I think she is afraid to call my bluff! "GGGGG"
It's a half hour later now, and the sun is really lighting up the city. As I look west, the fog has burned off over Santa Monica, and I can see the ocean. I will dance at Merv Griffin's "Coconut Club" in the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel tonight,to "Swingerhead", a great Miami band, and take my grand daughter to the "3rd street" dance in Santa Monica tomorrow afternoon.
