I do not like brokers in general because of the sense of the inverted yield curve taking it's toll on the Banks. Brokerage firms get rolled up in the Financial Sector and if I recall correctly the Relative Strength of the Sector is low.

Yeah, if you look at a chart of the BIX as a function of SPX it's been in a decline since July of 1998. I guess it's difficult to posture that the decline is a result of fears about the inverted yield curve but my sense of it is that, until there is noticeable improvement in the sector, it would be one arena I would not speculate in.

Using the BKX as a proxy for the BIX yields the same impression. My observation is not that any specific investment is likely to be a bad one, merely that more opportunity should exist in a stronger sector.
