I hear you talking and follow your thinking. Dell now beginning to branch out like shoots from a bamboo tree.( Ala Microsoft, and my guess is that MSD and Bill G. share ideas on what will work).
The main trunk being existing business areas expected to grow 30%+.
But each new branch like the Venture capital group, Web-site building, ISP providing will expand much faster and produce off-shoots of their own.
I think one error other companies make in trying to go direct is that they are 'going for' the gross dollars and high returns, where Dell concentrates first on
taking care of each individual buyer with loyalty and a good compatible product and the $ come after. ( I seem to remember a story about better mousetraps)
